Van Sant's debut feature is 'Mala Noche' (1985), a gritty slice-of-life drama made on a shoestring budget that set the template for his later work. Portland liquor store manager Walt (Tim Streeter), who is gay, encounters two handsome illegal Mexican immigrants. Besotted by the young Johnny (Doug Cooeyate), who speaks no English, Walt becomes the protector of the two boys, teaching them how to drive and trying to learn Spanish in order to get closer to them. With Johnny coldly indifferent to Walt's attentions, the desire appears to be strictly one-sided, but this doesn't prevent the friendship developing into one of mutual needs and desires. 'Paranoid Park' (2007) is a drama based on Blake Nelson's novel. The film follows 16-year-old skateboarder Alex (Gabe Nevins), who accidentally kills a security guard outside Paranoid Park, Portland's most infamous skateboarding park. When he decides to say nothing, he takes on a crushing burden of guilt - with huge ramifications.<br/><br/><i>Typ: DVD</i>

A woman (Amira Casar) goes into the toilets of a gay nightclub and attempts suicide by cutting her wrists. She is rescued from her fate by a gay man (Rocco Siffredi) who takes her to a pharmacy and sees that she is bandaged up. When he takes the woman back to her apartment, she makes an offer to the man: if he will watch her, simply watch her, for four nights, she will pay him for the task. As if to prove her belief that men - and especially gay men - hate and fear women, she sets out to disgust him with her body and her sexuality.<br/><br/><i>Typ: DVD</i>

Downtrodden couple Marcos (Marcos Hernandez) and his wife (Bertha Ruiz) decide to kidnap a baby for the ransom money, but when the kidnap goes badly wrong and the baby dies, Marcos is plagued by guilt. In his search for relief, he meets the troubled Ana (Anapola Mushkadiz), the daughter of the powerful general for whom Marcos works as a driver, and who prostitutes herself for her own pleasure. As their two lives intertwine, Marcos finds himself involved in a religious procession in honour of the Lady of Guadalupe, where a moment of shocking violence offers him a chance at redemption.<br/><br/><i>Typ: DVD</i>

Young-goon (Su-jeong Lim ) is admitted to a mental institution and, believing she's a cyborg, charges herself with a transistor radio. Il-sun Park (Rain), a fellow inmate, steals the other inmates' personality traits and believes he is fading and will one day turn into a dot. When Young-goon refuses to eat, Il-sun decides it's his job to get her on her feet again.<br/><br/><i>Typ: Blu-ray</i>

Originally released as three separate shorts, the main narrative strands feature famous faces including Steve Buscemi, Roberto Benigni and musicians Iggy Pop and Tom Waits. These are interspersed with sketches featuring luminaries as diverse as Bill Murray, Steve Coogan, Cate Blanchett and the Wu-Tang Clan. This full-length version was screened at the 2003 Venice Film Festival.<br/><br/><i>Typ: DVD</i>

Sophie Quinton plays Isobelle, a student nurse who collapses on her way home from work after passing out inexplicably. After being treated by the mysterious and handsome Dr Philipp (Laurent Lucas), Isobelle begins to suspect that he has been tampering with the hospital's anaesthetic supplies, drugging female patients so that he can rape them. While Isobelle's boyfriend begins to suspect that she is having an affair with Philipp, Isobelle is determined to find out the truth. Before long, female patients and nurses are going missing from the hospital, but no one believes Isobelle's accusations about the sinister Dr Philipp. Even worse, her fainting spells are continuing, and before long Isobelle fears that she will end up on Dr Philipp's operating table.<br/><br/><i>Typ: DVD</i>
