Efter att ha suttit fem långa år i ett stinkande fängelse i Sonora är Rio The Kid fri. Fri att leta rätt på sin forne kompanjon Dad Longworth som lurade honom på bytet efter ett baknkrån de gjorde tillsammans. Efter en tid hittar Rio sin forne kompanjon i Moterey i Kalifornien och till Rios förvåning är han en väl ansedd medborgare och sheriff. Rio planerar att ta hämnd på Dad Longworth men hans planer grusas av det faktum att han blir förälskad i Longworths styvdotter. <br/>Han står melllan valet att utkräva hämnd och kärleken till den vackra Louisa.
