<i>Danish Ceramic Architecture</i> offers a presentation of Danish architecture that has not been seen before. With ceramic and lightweight terracotta façades as a medium, the book narrates a piece of Danish architectural history unknown to most people. It is thus a new way of approaching the Danish architectural treasure by zooming in on approximately the past 100 years and otherwise overlooked buildings, as well as telling new stories about well-known works. This is how the book demonstrates why this particular style of architecture is something professionals and others interested in architecture and aesthetics should be aware of. <br/><br/>Through essays by and interviews with leading architecture thinkers and practitioners as well as dozens of projects with façades in ceramic, by major Danish architectural firms such as Vilhelm Lauritzen, Cobe and BIG the purpose of the book is to relate ceramic façades to central Danish (and international) currents in architecture and material. In this way, it will help point forward to new forms of expression for Danish architecture. <br/><br/>The book was conceived by the architect, writer, teacher, consultant and designer Rune Bundgaard, who has worked with ceramic architecture since 2015 in his own firm KLINK. He is currently also employed at Henning Larsen Architects.

Lantbruksarkitekten Charles Emil Löfvenskiöld (1810-1888) drömde om att reformera den svenska landsbygden. En ny arkitektur präglad av både skönhet och rationalitet skulle bekämpa fattigdom och misär. Ljusa, rymliga och välplanerade hus för såväl människor som djur var grunden för ett humant och välmående samhälle. Först när det praktiska också var vackert var det verkligt funktionellt. <br/><br/>Syftet med skriften <i>Landtmannabyggnader: hufvudsakligen för mindre jordbruk</i> från 1868 var att sprida de nya rönen i prisvärda och pedagogiska häften med överskådliga ritningar och förklarande texter. Idag är verket en arkitekturklassiker som haft stor inverkan på svensk byggnadskultur. <br/><br/>Denna reproduktion kompletteras av ett appendix med ritningar av Löfvenskiölds elev och mångårige medarbetare Pehr August Pettersson (1841 1906). De publicerades ursprungligen i hans <i>Landtmannabyggnader: ritningar för alla områden inom landthushållningen</i> från 1891, en uppföljare och hyllning till Löfvenskiölds klassiska verk.

<b>Published to mark the 250th anniversary of Caspar David Friedrich's birth, the most thorough Friedrich retrospective in many years.</b><br/><br/> Caspar David Friedrich (1774-1840) is renowned as the Romantic painter par excellence, his works icons of an age of major social upheaval. His landscape paintings and drawings broke with traditional patterns of representation, and paved new ways of both experiencing and reflecting on the ambivalent relationship between humankind and nature.<br/><br/> Accompanying the most comprehensive Friedrich retrospective in many years, this catalogue re-examines the artist's groundbreaking work in light of the urgent challenges in a time of climate crisis. It centres on more than sixty paintings, among them many major iconic works, and about 100 drawings. Selected works by Friedrich's colleagues, notably Carl Blechen, Carl Gustav Carus, Johan Christian Dahl, August Heinrich and Georg Friedrich Kersting, are also featured. The second part of the book focuses on the contemporary reception of his work. In contributions ranging from video and photography to installations, some twenty artists working across a variety of genres and media explore the Romantic era, its attitude to nature and the art of Caspar David Friedrich. The participants include Elina Brotherus, Julian Charriere, David Claerbout, Olafur Eliasson, Alex Grein, Hiroyuki Masuyama, Mariele Neudecker, Ulrike Rosenbach, Susan Schuppli, Santeri Tuori and Kehinde Wiley. These reinterpretations and appropriations of Friedrich's images and themes allow the Romantic view of nature to enter into a fascinating dialogue with contemporary perspectives on nature and the discourse on ecological issues.
