Den unge Malloy samlar på minnen och får träffa 1700-talsvampyren Louis de Pointe du Lac som vill dela med sig av sina. Efter att han berättat sin livshistoria ber Malloy Louis om att förvandla honom till vampyr, men den gamle vampyren vägrar.
