Ett muterat virus gör smittade invånare i Taipei till bindgalna, blodtörstiga varelser som mördar helt utan hämningar och misskund. Närvaron blir total på grund av extremt väl genomförda praktiska effekter vilka frammanar bilder av artärfontäner och lemlästningar som inte kommer lämna tittarnas minne i första taget.
