In 'The Death of Mr Balthazar', directed by Jirí Menzel, a family are watching a motorcycle race when they witness one of the participants dying in a crash. 'The Imposters', directed by Jan Nemec, depicts a conversation between two men in hospital as they each tell each other falsehoods about themselves. In 'The House of Joy', directed by Evald Schorm, two life insurance agents visit a goat farmer and painter who has covered the inside of his farmhouse with his art. 'At the World Cafeteria', directed by Vera Chytilová, follows the rowdy guests at a wedding reception in a diner, who are oblivious to the misery surrounding them following the discovery of the body of a young woman. Living in a small village in the woods surrounding a grand castle, Popelka (Libuse Safránková) is forced to work as a servant undertaking menial tasks for her stepmother (Carola Braunbock). One day while out riding in the forest, she comes across a prince (Pavel Trávnícek) and his hunting party. After impressing the prince with her excellent hunting skills and charming him with her witty retorts, Popelka playfully dismisses his advances before returning home to her village. Later, upon learning that there is to be a ball at the castle where the prince will choose a wife, Popelka uses some magic acorns she was given to create a spectacular dress as part of her plan to finally let the prince know of her true feelings for him.<br/><br/><i>Typ: Blu-ray / Restored</i>

Cast out by his father, Ondrej (Petr Cepek) is forced to join the Order of the Teutonic Knights where he is mentored by the fanatical Armin (Jan Kacer). After years of hardship, Ondrej fights Armin and manages to escape from the Order. Upon returning to his former home, he discovers that his father is dead and soon falls in love with his stepmother Lenora (Vera Galatíková). She agrees to marry her cousin Pavel (Petr Cepek), a former soldier burdened with debt and syphilis, but their marriage is unconsummated and Stepa is left full of disappointment and regret. He is the owner of a crematorium in the early stages of the Nazi occupation of Czechoslovakia who finds in the situation an opportunity to fulfil his business ambitions, justify his anti-Semitism and exert his obsession for control.
