En hyllning till the British Blues Explosion, med otroliga versioner av låtar av Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck och Jimmy Page! Joe Bonamassa hyllade sina brittiska blues-hjältar på en kort 5-dagars turné i Storbritannien. Denna inspelning gjordes på Greenwich Music Time vid The Old Royal Naval College i Greenwich, London den 7 juli, 2016.<br/> <br/>Den brittiska bluesen är den musik som mest kommit att influera Joe Bonamassa. Redan vid unga år fastnade han för den råa och skitiga musiken som spelades i Storbritannien i mitten av sextiotalet. Särskilt fastnade han för de egensinniga och innovativa gitarristerna och då framför allt de tre tungviktarna Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck och Jimmy Page. Han hyser den djupaste respekt för vad de har åstakommit. <br/> <br/>Joe Bonamassas kärlek till den brittiska blues-rocken är själva hjärtat i all den musik som inspirerat honom och för första gången fick han tillfälle att visa sin aktning och respekt för alla dessa artister men främst då Clapton, Beck och Page.<br/> <br/>I femmannabandet ingick Michael Rhodes (bas), Reese Wynans (klaviaturer), Anton Fig (trummor) och Russ Irwin (kompgitarr och stämsång).<br/> <br/>Joe Bonamassa anser det nödvändigt att lyfta fram dessa fantastiska musiker för framtida generationers bluesartister. "Om det inte vore för dessa brittiska bluesmusiker så skulle nog inte bluesen haft den stora inverkan på rockmusiken som den har idag och skulle kanske rent av förpassats till historieböckerna," säger Bonamassa.

Live at the Greek Theatre continues Bonamassa's tradition of honoring incredible concert venues like the Royal Albert Hall, the Vienna Opera House, Radio City Music Hall, Red Rocks Amphitheatre, and the Beacon Theater. As with all Bonamassa DVD shoots, the performance at the Greek offered a unique presentation of this historical music. <br/><br/>Songs ranged from blues standards to deep cuts, including "Born Under A Bad Sign," "Lonesome Whistle Blues," "Hummingbird," "Let The Good Times Roll," and, of course, B.B. King's famed "The Thrill Is Gone" as the evening closer. For Bonamassa, the tour's importance deepened significantly when B.B., his friend and mentor, passed away two months before it began. "My only regret is that B.B. was not alive to see it," said Bonamassa.<br/><br/>The eleven-piece band included Anton Fig (drums), Kirk Fletcher (guitar), Michael Rhodes (bass), Reese Wynans (piano, Hammond organ), Lee Thornburg (trumpet, horn arrangements), Paulie Cerra (saxophone), Nick Lane (trombone), and a trio of backup singers including Mahalia Barnes, Jade MacRae, and Juanita Tippins.<br/><br/>This tour was a continuation of the celebration of our blues heritage, which began with the 2014 production of Joe Bonamassa - Muddy Wolf at Red Rocks, a tribute to the music of Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf. Both tours gave a portion of proceeds to presenting partner Keeping the Blues Alive Foundation, a non-profit Bonamassa founded in 2011 that promotes the heritage of the blues to the next generation, funds music scholarships, and supplements the loss of music education in public schools.

Joe Bonamassa: Tour De Force - Borderline [2 DVD]

On October 28, 2013, blues-rock star Joe Bonamassa will release Tour De Force - Live In London on Provogue Records (a division of Mascot Label Group), an unprecedented live concert event unfolding over four DVDs and four Blu-rays recorded and filmed at each of the four iconic London venues which he has previously played: The Borderline, Shepherd's Bush Empire, Hammersmith Apollo, and the Royal Albert Hall. <br/><br/>The sold-out concerts, which saw over 12.000 fans in attendance, chronicle Bonamassa's atmospheric rise from the intimate club environment of The Borderline, to the prestigious Royal Albert Hall. Every individual evening was marked by a particular theme - his early trio years, the blues, rock and roll, and an all encompassing set at the Albert Hall - and every setlist, arrangement and ensemble was designed to fit in with the evening's prescribed theme providing the viewer with four different and unique performances. Each corresponding disc in the set features a different selection from over 60 songs played from his extensive catalogue - some having never been performed live - with a different and unique band configuration to highlight the diverse elements of Bonamassa's style. <br/><br/>About the Borderline show:<br/>This 200-seat club in the heart of London was chosen to stage a revival of Bonamassa's early career power-trio jam nights. Armed with a Fender Stratocaster - Bonamassa along with a single drummer and bassist launched into a setlist marked with extended takes of songs from his first set of albums.<br/><br/>DVD 1 is the full concert and DVD 2 is bonus material.
