Underbart album med Chelsea, den tredje generationen i en närmast ikonisk låtskrivarfamilj (Rosanne Cash och Rodney Crowell är ju hennes föräldrar) - pappa Rodney är också med på plattan. På Crystal City gör hon sin egen form av eklektisk country blandad med mörk folk och rock.

Crowell's first album runs the gamut, showcasing everything from stripped back folk to produced country pop, all with a knowing wink. Following up on the recording sessions of her first band, Jane Only, Crowell recorded her eponymous solo debut with Nashville producer Loney John Hutchins. The two play on a majority of the record and Crowell even manned the controls at times. Featuring additional musicians such as William Tyler and Brian Kotzur of the Silver Jews band, Chelsea Crowell explores everything from historic yarns in Where the Hell Is Robert E. Lee to deeply personal songs such as The Run.

Jane Only Feat Chelsea Crowell: Jane Only [CD]

Steve Poulton, Nashville's blue eyed, soul man of mystery aka "The Altered Statesman", and Kurt Wagner of Lambchop fame recorded this lovely limited split 12" EP with multi-instrumentalist and engineer, Joe McMahon. Released in 2012, this 4 song EP is pressed at 45rpm and it sounds GORGEOUS! Something Missing features two dreamy numbers by the Statesman and two straight shooters from Wagner that would later appear on Lambchop's Mr. M album as fully orchestrated tracks. Poulton and Wagner share band duties with McMahon and a rhythm section comprised of native Nashville drummer, Scott Martin (Lambchop alum, HeCTA), and bassist, Michael Backes (Bobby Bare Jr/Sr, Chelsea Crowell). The result is a sweetly mellow mix of country soul jazz.
