When his friend Emmett 'Doc' Brown (Christopher Lloyd), an eccentric scientist, reveals that he has invented a time machine in the form of a plutonium-powered modified DeLorean car, Marty accidentally travels 30 years back in time from 1985 to 1955. After realising that he is not able to return to the future, he seeks the assistance of a younger Doc but inadvertently disrupts the early stages of his parents' relationship, which places his entire existence in jeopardy. In 'Back to the Future Part II' (1989) Marty and Doc Brown must travel 30 years into the future to prevent Marty's son from going to jail. Meanwhile, when Biff Tannen steals the DeLorean so that he can return to the 1950s and make his younger self rich, he creates an alternate timeline in which Marty's father has been murdered... Finally, in 'Back to the Future Part III' (1990), Marty travels back in time to 1885 to rescue Doc Brown from a fatal showdown with Biff Tannen's great-grandfather. With no knowledge of where he is or how he can get out, he discovers a disconnected telephone through which he can hear the voices of the five missing children, the killer's previous victims, who want to help him escape. Meanwhile, his sister Gwen (McGraw) starts having recurring visions that might help her find Finney. In the sequel 'Black Phone 2' (2025) Finney is struggling to recover from the experience of being kidnapped by the brutal serial killer known as the Grabber (Hawke) four years earlier. When Gwen begins experiencing new and terrifying visions and nightmares, they come to fear the Grabber has returned. However, Ray finds himself very much outside of his comfort zone and his contrary ways lead him into increasingly dangerous situations with locals, tourists and a film crew.
