After finding out where he lives, she begins secretly cleaning and redecorating his apartment to help cheer him up. Umberto lives only on his meagre pension and in dire surroundings with a grasping landlady. He has fallen behind on his rent and after many indignities finally reaches a point where suicide seems like the only answer. They rob pharmacies and hospitals to fuel their drug addiction but when Nadine dies from an overdose, Bob reassesses his life. He decides to get clean but Dianne refuses to do the same and it proves difficult for Bob to escape the pull of his old life. The cast also includes William S.
