Brian Sweeney Fitzgerald (Klaus Kinski) is an opera-loving entrepreneur who dreams of building an opera house in the middle of the Peruvian jungle. To finance his project he attempts to persuade the rubber business to extend into the jungle, and concocts a plan which involves moving his steamship over a mountain to a parallel waterway. In making his film of the visionary's adventures, Herzog famously refused to use special effects and insisted instead on actually transporting a steamship over the mountains.<br/><br/><i>Typ: DVD / Remastered</i>

Takashi Shimura plays the drunken angel of the title, a doctor working in a devastatingly poor area of immediately-post-war Tokyo. The area is overrun with competing gangsters who have lost most of their power during the American occupation. Toshiro Mifune - in the first leading role that made him a star - plays a handsome young hoodlum who one night comes to the doctor's surgery with a small bullet wound in his hand. The doctor treats the wound but also diagnoses Mifune as having tuberculosis. The gangster's arrogance prevents him from acknowledging his illness, but his position within his organisation increasingly comes under threat.<br/><br/><i>Typ: DVD</i>

When Caravaggio (Nigel Terry) uses street fighter Ranuccio Tomassoni (Sean Bean) as a model for his erotic paintings of St John an attraction develops between the pair. However, Ranuccio's partner Lena (Tilda Swinton) also becomes romantically linked to Caravaggio and soon jealously and passion result in a tragic ending for all involved. After having a baby by him that dies in infancy, Tess runs away and meets a farmer named Angel Clare (Peter Firth) with whom she falls in love and marries. When she tells Angel about her past he is heartbroken and hastily rejects her, leaving Tess to return to Alec. But when Angel returns home, Tess kills Alec in order to be with the only man she has ever loved, Angel.<br/><br/><i>Typ: DVD</i>
