In the Second World War drama 'Stromboli' (1950), Lithuanian refugee Karen (Bergman) marries an Italian fisherman named Antonio (Mario Vitale) to escape from a prison camp. She is filled with romantic notions as her husband takes her to his home on the island of Stromboli but her dreams of an idyllic paradise are shattered by the reality of a barren, desolate landscape. She finds herself frowned upon by the local women who are suspicious of the foreigner and decides to leave the island, but her plan to raise enough money for her departure involves seducing the local priest (Renzo Cesana). In 'Journey to Italy' (1954) wealthy English couple Katherine Joyce (Bergman) and her husband Alex (George Sanders) travel to Italy to sell a villa they have inherited. Far from their London home, Katherine confesses to having had a secret lover and finds her husband becomes even more distant with her; to such an extent that they decide to finish their holiday apart. Whilst Alex enjoys the company of other expatriates on the island of Capri, Katherine tours around the sights of Naples and Pompeii. However, the different events they experience begin to bring the couple back together. In 'Fear' (1954) Irene Wagner (Bergman) has an affair with Erich Baumann (Kurt Kreuger) while her husband, the prominent German scientist Professor Albert Wagner (Mathias Wieman), is out of town. Despite her infidelity, she is still madly in love with her husband and is tormented by guilt and fears him discovering her illicit affair. Her increasing anxiety is compounded when Erich's jealous ex-lover Johann (Renate Mannhardt) discovers their secret and blackmails her, sending Irene into a suicidal rage.<br/><br/><i>Typ: Blu-ray / Limited Edition Box Set</i>

In 'Day of Wrath' (1943), set in 17th-century Denmark, elderly pastor Absalon Pedersson (Thorkild Roose) is cursed at the stake by a peasant woman (Anna Svierkier) whom he has tortured into a confession of witchcraft. Soon after, Absalon's young wife Anne (Lisbeth Movin) begins an affair with his son Martin (Preben Ledorff Rye). When Anne tells Absalon of her love for Martin, the old man suffers a fatal heart attack and she too finds herself being faced with accusations of witchcraft. In 'Ordet' (1955), head of the family Peter Borgen (Ejner Federspiel) forbids his younger son Anders (Cay Kristiansen) to marry his girlfriend Anne (Gerda Nielsen) because her family belongs to a different Protestant sect. The ecclesiastical debate strikes to the community's heart, with only Inger (Birgitte Federspiel), the wife of Peter's eldest son Mikkel (Emil Hass Christensen), bridging the religious divide. In 'Gertrud' (1964), Nina Pens Rode stars as the eponymous politician's wife who decides to leave her husband (Bendt Rothe) just as he is about to take his place in government. Intending to move in with a young composer (Ebbe Rode), her plans change when she discovers that he has been unfaithful to her. In 'Master of the House' (1925), Johannes Meyer plays Victor Fransden, a businessman who takes out all his frustrations on his wife Ida (Astrid Holm) and family. Ida accepts the abuse and incessant fault-finding until one day his former nanny (Mathilde Nielsen) decides that she cannot bear to watch any more. She persuades Ida to leave Victor, and forces the erring husband to undertake all the household chores himself in an attempt to make him see the error of his ways.<br/><br/><i>Typ: Blu-ray / Box Set</i>

'The Immortal One' (1963) stars Jacques Doniol-Valcroze and Françoise Brion as a sad man and a beautiful woman who meet unexpectedly and persue a passionate affair. 'Trans-Europe Express' (1967) tells the story of a film director, Jean (Robbe-Grillet), his producer and his assistant as they ride the Trans-Europe Express train from Paris to Antwerp. In 'The Man Who Lies' (1968), Jean-Louis Trintignant stars as Boris, a man who is believed to have betrayed his country during World War II. After he is taken in by the family of a dead rebel, he witnesses the lesbian affair between the man's sister and a servant and must decide whether to continue down the path of deception or get back on the straight and narrow. 'Eden and After' (1970) is an erotic horror starring Catherine Jourdan and Lorraine Rainer as students who take part in a series of games in a quiet café. In 'N. Rolls the Dice' (1971), a young man who makes a living playing dice becomes haunted by the image of two women with short hair. 'Successive Slidings of Pleasure' (1974) examines the story of a young woman believed to be a witch. When her partner Nora (Olga Georges-Picot) is found dead, stabbed through the heart with a pair of scissors, she is incarcerated in a convent prison where her sexual fantasies are perceived as the devil's work.<br/><br/><i>Typ: Blu-ray / Box Set</i>

In 'Stocker's Copper' (1972) clay workers Manuel Stocker (Bryan Marshall) and Herbert Griffith (Gareth Thomas) are striking for better conditions in Cornwall but the heavy-handed presence of certain policemen threatens to make events turn violent. In 'The Elephants' Graveyard' (1976) unemployed man Bunny (Jon Morrison) pretends to his wife that he is a postman when in reality he spends his days walking the hills. One day he befriends another man, Jody (Billy Connolly), who is in a very similar position. Together the pair bond over their shared desire to avoid employment at all costs. 'Gotcha/Campion's Interview' (1977) features two stories that revolve around two different schools trying to deal with inequality within the education system. In 'The Spongers' (1978) single mother Pauline (Christine Hargreaves) is given two weeks to cover her rent arrears or face eviction. However, due to recent welfare payment cuts she struggles to find the money and worries about how she and her disabled daughter will survive. Meanwhile, preparations for the Queen's Silver Jubilee get underway. In 'Victims of Apartheid' (1978) George O'Brien (John Kani) has newly arrived in London from apartheid-era South Africa, however, his past experiences continue to haunt him and he struggles to move on with his life. Finally, in 'Just a Boys' Game' (1979), set in Glasgow, Jake McQuillen (Frankie Miller) aspires to become known as a hardman just like his revered grandfather (Hector Nicol), who is close to death. In 'Torment' (1944), written by Bergman, the life of young student, Jan-Erik (Alf Kjellin) becomes enmeshed with his sadistic Latin teacher, nicknamed 'Caligula' (Stig Järrel), and a newsagent assistant-cum-prostitute, Bertha (Mai Zetterling). When Jan-Erik assists the drunken Bertha home, he becomes her lover and discovers that she is terrified of another man. When Jan-Erik finds Bertha dead, he accuses Caligula of being responsible. In 'Crisis' (1946), Bergman's directorial debut, 18-year-old Nelly (Inga Landgre) lives a quiet life in a small town with her foster mother. Attracted by the promise of a more exciting life, Nelly leaves the small town to join her real mother in Stockholm. Once there, she soon discovers that there is a much darker side to human nature that she never knew existed. 'Eva' (1948), written by Bergman and directed by Gustaf Molander, is set in neutral Sweden during WWII. Bo (Birger Malmsten) is a sailor recently returned from the Navy who starts courting Eva (Eva Stiberg), but has reawakened feelings of guilt about a childhood accident in which he was responsible for a young girl's death. Although they become happily married, and Eva becomes pregnant, Bo is still plagued by nightmares and guilt, including a dream that he is about to brutally murder his best friend. When Eva is about to give birth, Bo's fear that he will be responsible for another death sends him back to the high seas. In 'Music in Darkness' (1948), directed by Bergman, Bengt (Birger Malmsten) is a promising young musician who is accidentally blinded in a firing range accident when completing his military service. Becoming isolated and withdrawn, he refuses all offers of help from the people closest to him, until he hires Ingrid (Zetterling) to act as his assistant. Gradually falling in love with her, but dissatisfied at his inability to earn a living as a pianist, Bengt enrols at a school for the blind, expecting Ingrid to be waiting for him when he graduates. However, Ingrid has moved on and is now in a committed relationship, a situation that provokes Bengt to a fit of violence in an attempt to make himself feel whole again. Bergman writes and directs 'Port of Call' (1948), a brooding and uncompromising tale of oppressive and destructive relationships set on the waterfront of the bleak Gothenburg harbour. Berit Holm (Nine-Christine Jönsson) is a lonely and disturbed young woman who has worked as a prostitute and spent years in mental institutions. When she meets impoverished deckhand Gosta (Bengt Eklund), the two begin a romance, but Gosta struggles to overcome his puritanical attitude towards Berit's difficult past. In 'Prison' (1949), written and directed by Bergman, a mathematics teacher approaches one of his former pupils who has become a film director, and asks him to consider an idea for a film about a world where the Devil has declared Earth to be Hell. While the director considers this idea, he is interviewed by a journalist and finds himself recounting a terrible event from his past, that may have a bearing on his next project. In 'Three Strange Loves' (1949), based on four short stories by Birgit Tengroth, who also stars as Viola. Neurotic ballet dancer Ruth (Eva Henning) and her husband Bertil (Birger Malmsten) are travelling from Switzerland to Sweden across war-torn Germany. As they travel, they argue bitterly over his love affairs and her inability to conceive, the result of a previous abortion - in between handing food out of the train windows to starving Germans. Meanwhile, a partially obscured love triangle emerges as the focus shifts to Viola, Bertil's mistress, who is wandering through the streets of Stockholm on a midsummer night, having been dismissed as insane by a psychiatrist who tried but failed to seduce her. By chance she meets an old school friend, Valborg (Mimi Nelson), a lesbian who also attempts to seduce her. Finally, in 'To Joy' (1950), written and directed by Bergman, Marta (Maj-Britt Nilsson) and Stig (Stig Olin) meet and marry while playing in an orchestra.
