The film follows the young Napoleon (Albert Dieudonné/Vladimir Roudenko) as he attends the elite military school Brienne College, joins the French Army, witnesses the French Revolution in 1792 and takes part in the First Italian Campaign, during which time he becomes increasingly influential in French politics and meets his future wife Joséphine (Gina Manès).<br/><br/><i>Typ: DVD</i>

Takashi Shimura plays the drunken angel of the title, a doctor working in a devastatingly poor area of immediately-post-war Tokyo. The area is overrun with competing gangsters who have lost most of their power during the American occupation. Toshiro Mifune - in the first leading role that made him a star - plays a handsome young hoodlum who one night comes to the doctor's surgery with a small bullet wound in his hand. The doctor treats the wound but also diagnoses Mifune as having tuberculosis. The gangster's arrogance prevents him from acknowledging his illness, but his position within his organisation increasingly comes under threat.<br/><br/><i>Typ: DVD</i>

When Caravaggio (Nigel Terry) uses street fighter Ranuccio Tomassoni (Sean Bean) as a model for his erotic paintings of St John an attraction develops between the pair. However, Ranuccio's partner Lena (Tilda Swinton) also becomes romantically linked to Caravaggio and soon jealously and passion result in a tragic ending for all involved. Norah Palmer (Anna Cropper) leaves the city for a house in the countryside in order to get over a tough break-up. While there she begins to befriend the locals and, in particular, gamekeeper Rob (Andrew Bradford) who she later falls pregnant to. When she attempts to go back home to deal with her predicament Norah becomes increasingly concerned over the villagers' behaviour towards her and their apparent unwillingness to let her leave.<br/><br/><i>Typ: DVD</i>

After securing a great victory in battle for their lord Tsuzuki (Takamaru Sasaki), samurai commanders and friends Taketoki Washizu (Mifune) and Yoshiaki Miki (Minoru Chiaki) meet a mysterious spirit in the Spider's Web Forest who prophesies their rise to power. When the first part of the spirit's prediction comes true, Washizu tells his wife Asaji (Yamada) about the rest of the prophecy and her ambition leads him to commit murder, an act which seals both of their fates. In 'Riff Raff' (1991) former jailbird Stevie (Robert Carlyle) travels to London, finds work on a building site, and sets up home in an abandoned flat. One day he discovers a handbag in a skip and returns it to its owner, aspiring singer Susan (Emer McCourt). The pair begin a romance, but Susan's drug use soon puts a strain on their relationship and an accident at work, caused by the building company's unscrupulous cost-cutting, brings tensions to a head. In 'Raining Stones' (1993) unemployed and penniless Bob (Bruce Jones) is desperate to earn enough money to pay for his daughter Coleen (Gemma Phoenix)'s communion dress. Unable to raise the cash any other way, he ends up borrowing from a vicious loan shark who then proceeds to terrorise Bob's wife and threaten further violence. As the communion approaches, the family seem locked into an impossible situation. In 'Ladybird Ladybird' (1994) Maggie Conlon (Crissy Rock) is a downtrodden woman who has had her children taken away by the social services for being an unfit mother. When Maggie then meets a kind and gentle Chilean refugee, they become lovers and move in together. The couple start a family, but Maggie's past history with the social services causes problems as it means that their newborn baby is in danger of being taken away.<br/><br/><i>Typ: DVD / Box Set</i>
