In 'Phantasm' (1979), shortly after losing his parents, teenager Mike (Michael Baldwin) grows suspicious of a Tall Man (Angus Scrimm) he sees lifting a coffin single-handedly at the local graveyard, and decides to investigate. It turns out that the funeral parlour is being used as an assembly line for zombie slaves, and it is left to Mike, with the aid of his brother Jody (Bill Thornburg) and ice cream man Reggie (Reggie Bannister), to stop them. In 'Phantasm II' (1987), the Tall Man is still terrorising people in their dreams and raiding cemeteries with the assistance of his evil gnome-like helpers. Mike (James Le Gros) and Reggie resume their battle with the deathly spirit after a recurring dream about a beautiful girl convinces Mike that she must be next on the Tall Man's hit list. In 'Phantasm III: Lord of the Dead' (1993), the Tall Man returns after 15 years, hell bent on taking Mike (Baldwin) to his grave. Mike's friend Reggie, orphan boy Tim (Kevin Connors) and one-woman army Rocky (Gloria Henry) attempt to stave off the Tall Man's threat once and for all. In 'Phantasm IV: Oblivion' (1998), the Tall Man's true identity is finally revealed. Mike bends the contours of time and space to wage war against the Tall Man and his deadly metal spheres. The forces of darkness are turned on him however, and Mike's only allies are his friend Reggie and the spirit of his dead brother. Finally, in 'Phantasm: Ravager' (2016), Reggie travels through the desert in search of his friend Mike and the Tall Man. In 'Ju-On: The Curse' (2000), school teacher Shunsuke Kobayashi (Yûrei Yanagi) makes a house call to check on his student Toshio Saeki (Ryota Koyama) after his repeated absences from school. In doing so he uncovers the horrific murder of Toshio's mother Kayako (Takako Fuji) within the Saeki household, a murder so violent that it induced a curse upon the house and all who enter it. In 'Ju-On: The Curse 2' (2000), which retells certain stories of the first film, a new family living in the house become afflicted with the curse. At the same time Tatsuya Suzuki (Makoto Ashikawa), a real estate agent, employs his psychic sister Kyoko (Yuko Daike) to help investigate the house, but in doing so they unwittingly bring the curse back to their family. In 'Ju-On: The Grudge' (2002), social worker Rika Nishina (Megumi Okina) is tasked with looking after the elderly Sachie Tokunaga (Chikako Isomura), who lives with her family at the cursed house. While there, Rika is shocked to find a young boy named Toshio (Yuya Ozeki) shortly before she witnesses Sachie's death, seemingly caused by a ghost. The following police investigation brings more people to the cursed house, allowing it to spread further than ever before. In 'Ju-On: The Grudge 2' (2003) Kyoko Harase (Noriko Sakai) is invited to join a TV production investigating rumours about the cursed household, and though they experience little in the way of paranormal events while filming, the team soon experiences their own horrors after being subjected to the curse. In 'Ju-On: Black Ghost' (2009), after school girl Fukie (Hana Matsumoto) is rushed to hospital following a collapse, she exhibits strange behaviour and is placed under supervision. When it is revealed that Fukie's behaviour is due to a strange cyst that may be the physical remnant of a merged twin, attempts to deal with the cyst soon unleash an evil spirit intent on revenge. Finally, in 'Ju-On: White Ghost' (2009), Atsushi Isobe (Tsuyoshi Muro) becomes possessed after moving to a new house, causing him to kill his entire family before hanging himself in the nearby forest. In 'Ring' (1998), fear spreads among the students of a local high school when the news circulates of a mysterious videotape which brings death to those who watch it. TV reporter Reiko (Nanako Matsushima) sets out to investigate, finds a copy of the tape in a deserted cabin and falls victim to its deadly curse. With only one week left to live, her only hope is to uncover the story behind the tape, to find out where it came from and why it wields such terrible powers. In 'Ring 2' (1999) journalist Mai Takano (Miki Nakatani) begins her own investigation into the mysterious haunted videotape which kills all those who see it. Along the way she discovers that Youichi (Takashi Yamamura), the son of a victim, has begun to develop many of the same supernatural powers that the vengeful Sadako (Rie Ino'o) had when she was still alive. Now Mai must do her best to protect both herself and Youichi from the undead Sadako as the tape's curse continues to exert its terrifying power. In 'Ring 0' (2000), the final part of the trilogy and a prequel to the original film, it's the 1950s and Sadako (Yukie Nakama), the evil spirit that wreaks havoc in the later stories, is a young, aspiring actress around whom strange things happen. Under suspicion from her peers she eventually takes part in a paranormal demonstration in front of the media. In 'Hellraiser' (1987), when sexual profligate Frank Cotton (Sean Chapman) opens a puzzle box purported to grant access to a place of unparalleled pleasure, he is taken away to be tormented by the resident Cenobites led by Pinhead (Doug Bradley). Frank's brother Larry (Andrew Robinson) and his wife Julia (Clare Higgins) then move into Frank's house where Larry inadvertently summons Frank's spirit. Now trapped in a monstrous form, Frank asks Julia to supply him with victims so that he can regenerate, but the Cenobites will not let him go so easily... 'Hellbound: Hellraiser II' (1988) follows psychiatrist Dr. Phillip Channard (Kenneth Cranham) in his quest to reach the world of the Cenobites. After freeing Julia Cotton from their world, he brings patients to her so that she can feed on them and regenerate, but Julia has her own plans for Channard... Meanwhile, Kirsty (Ashley Laurence), Julia's step-daughter, is tricked into travelling to Hell. In 'Hellraiser III: Hell On Earth' (1992), reporter Joey Summerskill (Terry Farrell) battles Pinhead, who is now devoid of humanity and determined to lay waste to Earth. If she is to defeat him, she must reunite his human spirit with his Cenobite form and use the puzzle box to send him back to Hell. However, if she fails, Pinhead will bring forth Hell on Earth... Finally, 'Hellraiser: Bloodline' (1996) explores the origins of the Lament Configuration. In 18th century France, Toymaker Phillip LeMarchand (Bruce Ramsay) is employed by the Duc de L'Isle (Mickey Cottrell) to create a puzzle box, unaware that it will be used to summon a demon, Angelique (Valentina Vargas). In 'Shikoku' (1999), Hinako (Yui Natsukawa) returns home to Shikoku and learns that her childhood friend Sayori (Chiaki Kuriyama) drowned several years ago. Sayori's mother Teruko (Toshie Negishi), a Shinto priestess, is acting strangely and as Hinako investigates, she learns about an ancient folk-tale that could bring her friend back to life. 'Isola: Multiple Personality Girl' (2000) is set in the aftermath of the Kobe Earthquake in 1995. Yukari Kamo (Yoshino Kimura) is a psychic who travels to the area to help survivors but when she meets Chihiro Moritani (Yû Kurosawa), a girl with dissociative identity disorder, she realises that the trauma Chihiro has experienced has caused something dangerous to unfurl in her mind. In 'Inugami' (2001) young schoolteacher Akira (Atsuro Watabe) falls in love with with a local papermaker, Miki (Yuki Amami). Miki's family have lived in the same village for 900 years and, unbeknownst to Akira, are the guardians of evil spirits known as inugami. With Miki distracted by her new love, the spirits are able to slip loose from her control and inflict terrible harm on those who challenge them. In 'St. John's Wort' (2001) Nami (Megumi Okina) has been creating artwork for a new video game based on images she's been seeing in her dreams. Accompanied by one of the game producers, Kohei (Yôichirô Saitô), she travels out to an abandoned house that she has recently inherited from her estranged father. As the pair explore the old mansion, filming their expedition with a digital camera and beaming the results back to their company as they go, they make a series of horrifying and grisly discoveries and also begin to realise that they themselves are being watched by a mysterious and malevolent presence through surveillance cameras in every room of the house. 'Carved: The Slit-Mouthed Woman' (2007) follows Kyoko Yamashita (Eriko Satô), a teacher investigating the disappearances of several children with help from her co-worker Noboru Matsuzaki (Haruhiko Katô). They soon come to realise that the spirit taking the children has ties to Noboru's own tragic past. In 'Persona' (2000) a bullied student adopts a new persona when he begins wearing a ceramic mask at school and soon, other students begin to follow his example. Using the anonymity bestowed by the masks, they act without fearing the consequences of their behaviour. Finally, 'Noroi: The Curse' (2005) follows paranormal researcher Masafumi Kobayashi (Jin Muraki) as he investigates the legend of an ancient demon.
