When a mysterious blackout affects the village of Midwich, the inhabitants all lose consciousness without warning. The children, who are all born on the same day, boast precocious talents and share a telepathic connection with each other. When a spate of unexplained deaths occur in the village, Professor Gordon Zellaby (George Sanders), whose wife gave birth to one of the children, sets out to investigate and discovers that a terrifying force is at work.
