However, he soon runs afoul of local crime lord Brad Wesley (Ben Gazzara) who runs the town. Their conflict only worsens when Dalton begins seeing Dr. Elizabeth Clay (Kelly Lynch), a local woman to whom Wesley is also attracted. Despite Dalton's attempts to resolve the situation peacefully at first, violence is inevitable.
