Laura Hammond (Phyllis Calvert) is a busy housewife with a large family who doesn't seem to appreciate her. Unbeknownst to them, however, she is composing a film script in what little free time she has. When this gets picked up by film producer Stephen Hodgson (Guy Rolfe) who wishes to turn the script into a Hollywood movie, she jumps at the chance. However, she soon realises that the dysfunctional frantic atmosphere of her family home is what enables her to write.
