After someone tragically dies at the hands of Stone, Merriam attempts to prove that Stone is dangerous and out of control, but he proves difficult to overpower. In 'Bedlam' (1946), the infamous 18th-century sanatorium, Bedlam, is ruled over by sadistic governor James Sims (Boris Karloff). When Nell (Anna Lee), a young actress, campaigns for the institution to be reformed, Sims silences her by having her committed.
