The film follows Kroc as he transitions from unsuccessful food mixer salesman to ruthless businessman after a meeting with Mac and Dick McDonald (John Carroll Lynch and Nick Offerman), the humble owners of a new hamburger restaurant in California. Recognising the potential for a nationwide franchise of revolutionary fast food outlets, Kroc desperately tries to convince the brothers to branch out. However, when the McDonalds prove reluctant to expand their business, Kroc fashions a number of subtle deals in an attempt to gain outright control of the company and realise his ambitions of owning a highly profitable nationwide business.
