Året är 2013 och Snake Plissken (Kurt Russell) är tillbaka, men den här gången är det L.A. som till följd av jordskalv har blivit de fördömdas näste. Men något har gått fel i denna nya moraliska ordning för presidentens dotter har avvikit till L.A. med en sprängladdning och Snake blir beordrad att hämta tillbaka den.

After receiving a distress signal from a nearby Norwegian base, the team from a US research station in Antarctica decide to investigate. They arrive to discover that the occupants of the base are either dead or missing and also find the charred remains of a mysterious alien life form. I det nya moraliska Amerika lever inte alla upp till de nya lagar och förordningar som har satts upp, och dessa som inte följer lagarna skickas till Los Angeles. Presidentens dotter har stulit ett domedagsverktyg och har flytt till LA. Det är nu upp till Snake att hitta presidentens dotter och att oskadliggöra domedagsverktyget innan det är försent för mänskligheten.
