Tre år har gått sedan nöjesparken och lyxresorten Jurassic World ödelades av förrymda dinosaurier. Människorna har nu övergivit Isla Nublar medan de överlevande dinosaurierna klarar sig på egen hand i djungeln. När öns vilande vulkan börjar vakna till liv påbörjar Owen (Chris Pratt) och Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) en räddningsmission för att rädda de dinosaurier som fortfarande är kvar på ön från att utplånas.

However, with a massive volcanic eruption threatening their existence, former park operations manager Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard) recruits ex-dinosaur trainer Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) and heads back to the island in a bid to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from the impending disaster.
