Won over by his story and sympathetic to his fragile state, Anna invites him to meet Frantz's parents, Dr Hans (Ernst Stötzner) and Magda Hoffmeister (Marie Gruber) with whom she now lives. Although they are initially hostile towards the Frenchman they soon warm to his charms, as does Anna.
