With her alcoholic father Rex (Harrelson) moving from job to job and her eccentric mother Rose Mary (Watts) trying to make it as an artist, Jeannette and her sisters are constantly forced to adapt to new surroundings and fend for themselves while their parents struggle to put food on the table due to their mounting debts.
