In it Gray claims that cats are the true rulers of Earth, and in the three ensuing stories he expounds this feline theory. In the first story a long-suffering young maid kills the harridan-like mistress of the house, only to be avenged by the old lady's ever-loyal cats. In the second story a family's life is turned upside down when a woman staying with them turns out to be a witch, accompanied by her sinister black cat.
