Richard (Leonardo DiCaprio) är en ung amerikans backpacker som sätter sitt liv på spel för en enda sak: Den gränslösa fihetskänslan man upplever i det ultimata äventyret. Men på en hemlig och förrdiskt perfekt strand får han snart uppleva att när spänningen stiger och insatserna växer, ökar begäret och farorna blir att mer dödliga. <br/>Förutom DiCaprio ser vi även den vackra Virginie Ledoyen i en film som är en resa in i det okända, full av överraskningar, förväxlingar, förälskelse, lust och begär, och som utforskar farorna och mörkret som lurar vid paradiset strand.
