Using early jungle and garage as starting points to connect dots and open up contrasts between dance music and vintage electronics, Xylitol finds a sweet spot which, in her words "feels like something that's simultaneously still and ancient, yet propulsive and ecstatic." Not afraid of letting the the hiss and flutter of the music show, 'Anemones' holds attention with bubbling synths and drifting arpeggiations, occasionally brought to heel by charming melodies, accompanied by firing breakbeats.

Xylitol's second album Blumenfantasie expands the producer's palette with floating, kosmische-inspired synths, raw breakbeats and intimate, elegiac moods. It moves between jungle, ambience and grime, with collaborations from Sculpture and The Leaf Library, shaped by Backhouse's diverse DJ work into a fluid, cohesive journey.
