På ytan förefaller Donnie Darko vara en ganska vanlig amerikansk tonåring. Men under ytan lurar tvångstankarna, och bakom en intelligent fasad lever han i sin egen mörkervärld. Han ingår en pakt med sin osynlige vän, Frank, som lovar Donnie insikt i världens mysterier. Och som alla vet så är ju det här den lugna biten av denna fantastiska film. Detta är en underhållande och mycket våldsam film som nog ingen har missat helt.
